Job Description

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Part-Time Volusia Recovery Alliance Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the strategic direction, oversight, and management of all financial functions of the organization. This part-time role ensures fiscal integrity, transparency, and long-term sustainability while aligning financial strategies with the organization's mission and vision. Volusia Recovery Alliance coordinates peer-driven services that provide substance use recovery resources to our local community. We exist to serve all those seeking recovery from the impact of addiction, including families, friends, and allies. The organization works to mobilize resources, reduce barriers, and increase awareness and support in an effort to eliminate stigma and enhance recovery through multiple pathways. The CFO plays a critical role in advancing this mission through expert nonprofit financial management, strong grant oversight, and disciplined stewardship of multiple funding streams that directly support recovery services.
Position Details Schedule:
Part-time, approximately 10-20 hours per week
Compensation:
$28-$32 per hour, depending on experience -
Payrolled Staff Reports To:
Executive Director Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on financial matters
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with nonprofit sustainability and mission impact
  • Oversee all nonprofit financial management functions including fund accounting and compliance
  • Manage multiple grants, contracts, and funding streams simultaneously
  • Track and monitor grant budgets to ensure expenditures align with funding requirements
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for all grants and funding entities
  • Ensure compliance with 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance and other regulations
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and Contracts staff to ensure all financial aspects of grants and contracts remain compliant and aligned
  • Lead development and oversight of the organizational budget across multiple programs and funding sources
  • Provide regular budget-to-actual variance analysis and forecasts
  • Ensure strong internal controls and financial risk mitigation practices
  • Coordinate audits and serve as liaison to external auditors
  • Provide direct oversight of the Office Manager/Bookkeeper including review of financial transactions and reconciliations
  • Collaborate with Operations and program leadership to align financial tracking with service delivery
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Board and stakeholders
  • Continuously improve financial systems and processes including QuickBooks Online Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong experience in nonprofit financial management
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple grants and funding streams
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance
  • Experience with budgeting, audits, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with financial systems such as
QuickBooks Online Preferred:
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA
  • Experience working with nonprofit boards
