Job Description

About Sentry Solutions Sentry Solutions (S2) is a boutique financial advisory firm providing CFO services, transaction readiness, financial strategy, and operational finance to middle market companies. We work with owner-operated and PE-backed companies who need real financial leadership — not templated reports or junior analysts dressed up as advisors. We're small by design, focused on quality, and selective about who we work with. We're adding our first Director to the team. This person will become the operating core of our practice as our Managing Partner deepens his commitment to a flagship client relationship over the next 12-18 months. What the Job Actually Is In the first several months, you'll be doing the work: building models, coordinating month-end close, producing board packages and lender reports, and getting close to two existing client engagements. For example, one client requires acquisition support as they actively pursue their most target. You'll be handling analysis and deliverables directly The Managing Partner will remain the primary client contact while you establish your footing. Over the following 6-12 months, you'll step into those client relationships directly and take them over. After that, you'll use our platform — and your own network — to grow the book. Eventually, you'll hire and lead a team below you. The priority in the first six months is execution above all. What You'll Do Deliver fractional CFO services across a growing client portfolio: monthly and quarterly reporting, cash flow management, budget vs. actual analysis, covenant compliance, and board prep Build financial models from scratch: 3-statement models, rolling forecasts, scenario analyses, unit economics, and KPI frameworks tailored to each client's business Run operational finance: month-end close coordination, chart of accounts design, accounting system improvements (QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) Take ownership of client relationships and serve as the primary trusted financial advisor to business owners and PE sponsors, on a defined transition timeline Develop new client relationships over time using your network and S2's platform and reputation Hire, manage, and develop junior team members as the practice grows and your book warrants the support Who We're Looking For You're probably coming from one of these places: Investment banking at the VP or Director level — you're good at the work and ready to stop grinding for someone else's deal economics Big 4 advisory (transaction services, restructuring, or valuation) at the Manager or Senior Manager level — you've been in client service, you know how to run a deliverable, and you want more ownership A CFO or VP Finance role at a PE-backed company — you've run the function, you understand what operators actually need, and you want the variety and flexibility of the advisory side Independent fractional CFO work — you've been doing this on your own and want a platform, seeded clients, and colleagues What matters most regardless of background: you can execute independently, you can hold relationships with sophisticated clients, you have the ambition to build your own book, and you're honest about where you are right now and what you're signing up for. This role is best for someone that thinks like an owner, takes a long-term view of value creation, and can build structure, process, and discipline within growing businesses.
Compensation Base salary:
$130,000-$160,000 base plus Revenue Share (Revenue Share kicks in once your book hits certain KPIs) Path to Managing Director - Performance-driven promotion with enhanced economics & equity Location & Travel Remote-first. No geography requirement. Periodic in-person based client needs and firm touchpoints. We're flexible on this and trust people to show up where it matters. How to Apply Send your resume and a short note — no more than a few paragraphs — to jobs@sentrygrp.com. Tell us where you're coming from, what you're looking for, and why this looks like the right move for you right now. No cover letter templates, no formal applications. We respond to every application.
