Construction Chief Financial Officer Fulltime Fort Worth, Texas
EXCITING NEW
opening for a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial operations with our Fort Worth based client. This is a high-impact, seat-at-the-table role for a finance leader who thrives in the complexity of construction and project-based businesses — someone who can operate at the executive level while staying close to the numbers. The CFO will own financial strategy, reporting infrastructure, cash and working capital management, project-based accounting, and compliance. This leader will be the financial partner to the CEO and broader executive team, helping translate operational activity into clear financial insights that drive better decisions. The right candidate combines technical depth in construction accounting with the communication skills and executive presence to influence a growth-stage organization. This is not a corporate caretaker role — it requires someone who builds, improves, and leads. Financial Leadership & Strategy Lead financial strategy aligned with company growth goals and ownership expectations Serve as the primary financial advisor to the CEO, providing data-driven insights and recommendations Develop and maintain KPI dashboards covering revenue, backlog, gross margin, and cash flow Support long-range planning, capital allocation decisions, and growth initiatives Represent the company in banking, bonding, and lender relationships Financial Reporting & Controls Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting cycles Ensure financial statements are accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with GAAP Design and enforce a strong internal controls framework across the organization Manage external audit, tax preparation, and third-party accounting relationships Drive improvements to reporting timelines, accountability, and financial visibility company-wide Construction & Project-Based Accounting Own WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting across all active projects Oversee job cost tracking and project margin monitoring in close partnership with Project Management and Estimating Identify margin erosion risks early and recommend corrective actions Improve cost tracking granularity and financial visibility at the project level Support the ongoing optimization of accounting within the company ERP system (Foundations) Cash Flow & Working Capital Management Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity on a daily and weekly basis Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and billing processes — ensuring timely collections and cash cycle discipline Optimize working capital across a portfolio of concurrent construction projects Monitor and manage banking relationships, debt structures, and credit facility compliance Support bonding capacity maintenance and reporting requirements ($50M current bonding capacity) Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the annual budgeting process across all departments and business units Develop and maintain rolling forecasts with variance analysis and commentary Collaborate with department heads to build financial discipline and budget ownership across the organization Create long-range financial projections aligned with growth strategy Team Leadership & Systems Lead and develop the internal finance and accounting team (currently includes Senior Controller and accounting staff) Own and optimize the accounting and financial systems stack, including Foundations, Airtable, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365 Identify and implement process improvements that reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and support scale Foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement within the finance function Required 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 3-5 years at the CFO or VP Finance level Deep experience in construction, PEMB, or project-based industries — percentage-of-completion accounting is non-negotiable Proven track record managing cash flow, WIP, and job cost in a multi-project environment Hands-on familiarity with construction ERP systems (Foundations, Sage, Viewpoint, or equivalent) Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Experience managing banking, bonding, and lender relationships Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Preferred CPA designation strongly preferred Experience supporting a PE-backed or ownership-transition business environment Familiarity with multi-entity structures, intercompany accounting, and investor reporting Prior experience in a growth-stage company scaling revenue from $50M to $100M+ Experience working alongside an executive team across sales, operations, and project management •To view all of our open positions, please visit: https://jobs.alleareconsulting.com/ .Similar jobs in Fort Worth, TX
