The Claims Assistant supports claims processing, including tracking and maintaining medical claims, processing invoices, and coordinating benefit notices. This role requires strong clerical and technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service.Application Procedure:

The salary is an eight-step range, $61,547.33 - $80,563.44 / year. Placement on the salary schedule is dependent upon prior experience. Additional compensation is provided for benefits through an IRC-125 Cafeteria Plan. Employees earn 8 hours of vacation per month along with 14 paid holidays. Full-pay sick leave is also earned at the rate of 8 hours per month. Retirement benefits are provided through the Public Employees Retirement System and are not coordinated with Social Security. PERS is an employee/employer contributory plan.Key Responsibilities:
Track and monitor medical claims; review medical reports. Process claim invoices, calculate benefits, and coordinate payments. Schedule medical evaluations and communicate with practitioners. Maintain and update claim records and files. Prepare correspondence, objection letters, and reports. Respond to inquiries from claimants, member districts, and outside agencies. Perform general clerical duties and assist examiners as needed.Knowledge & Abilities:
Basic claims processing, medical terminology, and record-keeping procedures. Modern office procedures, equipment, and computer programs. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Ability to compile accurate reports, multi-task, and maintain confidentiality.Qualifications:
Two years of clerical/technical experience; experience in workers' compensation claims preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid California driver's license and proof of insurance. Proficiency in data entry and office equipment use.Pay:
