OUIA oversees Louisiana's Unemployment Insurance (UI) program, which provides temporary financial assistance to eligible workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. The office manages the full UI lifecycle, including employer tax collection, benefit claims processing, fraud prevention, and appeals. The incumbent in this position conducts unemployment claim reviews within the Integrity Programs section of Unemployment Insurance (UI) and performs duties consistent with ORS Specialist 1-4 positions in the Benefit Payment Control Unit. Primary responsibilities include preventing improper payments, detecting overpayments and fraud, verifying overpaid amounts and fraudulent intent, collecting overpayments through legal collection methods, and reporting collection activities using practical accounting procedures.

Minimum Qualifications Three years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers' compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Details:
Conducts unemployment insurance integrity investigations to identify improper payments, determine fraud or non-fraud overpayments, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations. Reviews and analyzes claims, cross-matches, employer protests, audits, and related documentation to verify eligibility, establish overpayments, and recommend case resolutions. Manages and prioritizes investigative caseloads, monitors production and quality standards, and ensures timely and accurate completion of work in accordance with program requirements. Responds to inquiries from claimants, employers, staff, and the public regarding unemployment claims, overpayments, and collections, and participates in appeals hearings to support investigative findings. Assists with reimbursement processing, claims intake, and disaster unemployment assistance operations, and identifies system issues to support process improvements.
