Position Summary Investigates, evaluates, and negotiates bodily injury and property damage claims filed by commercial and individual third parties. Oversees complex litigation, analyzes contractual obligations, assigns appropriate experts, and applies knowledge of the technology managing the fleet of the company. Major Tasks and Responsibilities Initiates prompt and thorough contact with claimants, witnesses, and employees. Leads field investigations and manages outside vendors to ensure strategic, complete, and precise investigations that support successful claim resolutions. Performs reserve analysis by reviewing estimates and medical records, ensuring accurate financial oversight of claims. Identifies and investigates fraudulent claims, collaborating with the Special Investigations Unit when necessary to reduce risk. Partners with defense counsel, participating in the discovery process and developing settlement strategies during litigation. Negotiates settlements with claimants, insurance carriers, and their attorneys to achieve favorable outcomes for both commercial and residential claims. Identifies subrogation opportunities to reduce financial losses for the company. Represents the company in litigation proceedings and attends depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, risk management, finance, or a related field. 5+ years of claims handling or related experience. Property and Casualty Adjuster License or Legal License. Ability to travel as needed. Benefits At Saia, your success is our success!
