This position offers a starting salary range of $15,150 - $18,180 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Children's Center of Wayne County (TCC) The Children's Center, founded in 1929, provides evidence-based clinical therapy to children who deal with mental, behavioral, emotional, intellectual, and developmental health and educational challenges or may have experienced trauma. Community-Based Partnerships:
We partner with K-12 schools and community organizations that serve children to provide clinical therapy, counseling, psychological services, and psychiatric evaluations, treatment & interventions.
Child Welfare:
In addition to the clinical therapy programs offered, The Children's Center places children in licensed foster homes, and supports them throughout their time in the child welfare system. Child Well-being +

We operate an onsite family success center that promotes child-wellbeing and offers children and youth from all walks of life to access relevant mental health crisis prevention and child abuse and neglect prevention services.

Job Summary The Insurance and Claim Encounter Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and ensuring the accuracy of patient encounters within the electronic health record (EHR). This role reviews, validates, and updates insurance information and corrects encounter details based on provider, billing, or administrative change requests. The specialist plays a key role in maintaining clean data, supporting accurate billing, and preventing claim denials by ensuring encounters align with payer requirements, services rendered, and organizational policies. Attention to detail, timely follow up, and collaboration with clinical and revenue cycle teams are essential to success in this position. Job Requirements High School Diploma Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance verification, patient access, and/or billing. Experience in working within HER/EMR required. Strong understanding of health insurance plans, including eligibility, benefits verification, and authorization requirements. Ability to review and correct patient encounter data accurately and timely. Essential Functions Verify client insurance eligibility, coverage, benefits, and payer requirements accurately 100% of the time. Review, validate, and correct client encounters/claims, based on approved change requests 100% of the time. Communicate with clinical staff, billing team, and administrative departments to clarify discrepancies or missing information. Document all insurance verifications and communications with funder/client in the clients chart. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards Use multiple systems and tools simultaneously, including EHRs, payer portals, and internal tracking systems. Meet productivity, accuracy, and quality benchmarks established by the department. Participate in training, system updates, and workflow improvement initiatives as required. KPI's Verify client insurance eligibility, coverage, benefits, and payer requirements accurately 100% of the time. Process requested change requests within 7 business days of the request. Ensure encounters are corrected and rebilled prior to the timely filing limits. Verify all commercial insurance verifications for the psychological team at least 2 weeks prior to appointment 95% of the time. Ensure appropriate insurance plans are entered into the client's chart 100% of the time. Physical Requirements Ability to receive and exchange information and accurately and effectively communicate and converse with others. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Other Must be able to provide clearance that there is no record and/or convictions as a perpetrator of child abuse and/or neglect in the State of Michigan Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry and other states of residency over the past 5 years.
