POSITION SUMMARY:
The Risk Manager oversees the district's risk management functions, including workers' compensation, property and casualty claims, safety compliance, and liability mitigation. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of claims from start to finish, including gathering information, communicating with employees and supervisors, working with medical providers, and partnering with insurance carriers to ensure timely and accurate processing. The Risk Manager also works proactively to identify patterns and areas of concern by monitoring trends in workplace injuries, incidents, and claims. This role supports insurance renewal processes and works alongside district leadership and external partners to reduce risk, improve safety practices, and protect district resources while keeping a strong focus on supporting employees throughout the process.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in business, human resources, risk management, or related field preferred Minimum 3 years' experience with workers' compensation laws, procedures, and claim management Experience with property and casualty insurance and claims processes preferred but not required Knowledge of

reporting requirements and workplace safety practices Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately Ability to communicate effectively with employees, leadership, and external agencies Must be bondable
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as the district's primary contact for all workers' compensation Coordinates the reporting, documentation, and management of claims in collaboration with employees, supervisors, medical providers, and insurance adjusters. Ensures all required reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Coordinates with the Third-Party Administrator to monitor workers' compensation accounts related to prior self-insured claims, ensuring accurate tracking of payments in financial accounting system and bank deposits until all claims are closed. Coordinates with the CFO and legal counsel in the preparation of claim-related documentation, including support for hearings, settlements, and Monitors claim activity and communicate settlement information to the CFO for review and approval. Prepares and maintains required
OSHA/PEOSH
reports and related documentation, in cooperation with the District Safety Compliance Officer to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Maintains the Statement of Values for district buildings and contents. Prepares and submits annual updates for insurance renewals, completes required applications, and processes purchase orders and invoices in the financial accounting system related to insurance coverage. Coordinates the submission and tracking of property, liability, and other applicable claims. Serves as liaison with insurance adjusters and legal representatives during claim review and investigation. Maintains accurate records of all incidents occurring on school premises, including vandalism, property damage, and injuries involving employees, students, and visitors. May be required to respond on-site to incidents to assess damage and coordinate response with Maintenance, Safety Coordinator and district leadership, including determining the need for insurance involvement. May include response outside of normal work hours. Additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee, consistent with the scope of risk management and compliance.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud. To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee's eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee's supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
