Job Description
General Summary:
REMOTE JOB
Under moderate supervision by the Supervisor, the Claims Casualty Adjuster II will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle assigned claims involving auto or casualty related insurance coverage.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investigate liability and damages, responsible for the accurate and efficient completion of all phases of first and/or third-party claims processing from inception to settlement.
- Confirms coverage for new claims and sets reserve amounts.
- Obtain recorded statements necessary according to the circumstances of each claim. Assign tasks as appropriate to the material damage appraiser or adjuster.
- Utilizes experience and judgment to confer as needed with Supervisor regarding complex claims, liability decisions, and reserve/authority adjustments.
- Sets appropriate diaries for all open claims files. Obtain the necessary information to move claims to a prompt and appropriate conclusion.
- Handles litigation claims under the direction of a supervisor in compliance with litigation guidelines.
- Settles claims within limits of authority, obtain releases, and issue payments to the correct parties.
- Ensure the Bodily Injury Index is obtained and Medicare requirements are met in full compliance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Some field work may be required such as scene investigations and photographing individual injuries.
- Must have the ability to participate in a rotational schedule for after-hours calls, ensuring availability to address urgent needs.
- Must always keep a service-oriented attitude by maintaining professional and productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, agents, claimants, policyholders, attorneys, and others.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent plus two or more years auto and/or casualty related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Adherence to Claims Best Practices.
- Proficient in analyzing and interpreting medical bills and records, statutes and case law, and technical procedures. Uses sound judgment in the evaluation of coverage, liability, and damages.
- Effectively draft reports, business correspondence, and clearly document files.
- Ability to effectively explain the claims process and respond to questions from customers, attorneys, medical providers, and agents.
- Ability to solve problems, including mathematical problems.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Confident technical skills are critical to utilize and navigate multiple claims systems simultaneously along with basic computer applications.
- Teamwork is essential - should share best practices identified and proactively assist team members as needed.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
Certificates/Licenses:
- Oklahoma Property and Casualty Adjuster License and other state licensure as required.
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license required. Driving records must comply with AFR vehicle policy.
- Insurance education and designation are preferred for career development.

This position is typically a remote role. If the employee is in the AFR office, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in a climate-controlled office environment.
