Summary:
Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company (ACIC), an Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines carrier, is seeking an experienced Director of Garage Claims to lead and oversee our Garage and Commercial Auto claims operations nationwide. This is a leader of leaders role responsible for driving strategy, performance, and technical excellence across the claims function. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Garage risks (repair shops, dealers), Commercial General Liability (CGL), and Commercial Auto, along with strong leadership experience managing teams and complex, litigated claims.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and oversight of Garage and Commercial Auto claims operations across all 50 states Lead, coach, and develop claims managers and supervisors Ensure consistent claims handling aligned with E&S guidelines and regulatory requirements Oversee complex and high-exposure claims, including litigation Provide technical direction on coverage, liability, and claim resolution strategies Establish and manage performance goals, metrics, and operational efficiency Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic initiatives and process improvements Manage relationships with defense counsel, vendors, and independent adjusters Oversee large loss and reinsurance reporting, audits, and compliance Ensure effective management of subrogation, salvage, and cost containment efforts
Required Qualifications:
8-10+ years of claims experience, including leadership at a director or senior leadership level Extensive Garage claims experience (required), including: Repair shops Dealers Related Garage risks Strong background in: Commercial General Liability (CGL) Commercial Auto Proven experience managing multi-state or nationwide claims operations Advanced expertise in: Litigation management Bodily Injury (BI) and Property Damage (PD) Coverage analysis and complex claims handling Demonstrated ability to lead and develop leaders (manager-level teams)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience within an Excess & Surplus (E&S) or non-admitted carrier environment Background handling complex, high-exposure, or specialty claims
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and team development skills Advanced communication and decision-making abilities Expertise in coverage interpretation, negotiation, and claims strategy Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information Strong organizational and operational management skills

This position requires the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information Hybrid work schedule in designated office locations Occasional collaboration with senior leadership on complex claims initiatives Other duties as assigned
