JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Business Office Specialist to join our ophthalmology practice. The purpose of the Business Office Specialist position is to monitor insurance aging queues, submit insurance claims, and answer patient inquiries about their bills. Duties would include, but would not be limited to: Monitor insurance aging queue and send corrected claims and/or appeals for any denied or unpaid dates of service. Review rejected claims and try to address any issues with the claim so the claim can be processed by the insurance company. Answer patient phone calls and counsel patients on any billing concerns or questions. Collaborate with coders to ensure appropriate coding or necessary coding changes. Post and reconcile insurance payments, as needed Balance accounts receivable regularly. Prepare and mail itemized receipts to patients. Monitor and send any other manual claims as needed. All other duties assigned that pertain to this role.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required One (1) year or more of insurance billing experience Six (6) months or more of customer service experience
Preferred:
Prior knowledge of insurance and medical terminology
Preferred:
Basic accounting experience Excellent computer skills, spelling and attention to detail Strong attention to detail, organization, and patient-centered communication
