THE OPPORTUNITY
Harford Mutual Insurance Group is expanding our Special Investigations Unit. We are looking to obtain an experienced SIU investigator who functions as a proactive, intelligence‑driven individual. Candidates will leverage advanced analytics and automation to address risk earlier in the claim lifecycle. Through streamlined operations and strategic partnerships, SIU drives measurable reductions in claim leakage, strengthens fraud prevention, and delivers meaningful financial and operational impact.
LOCATION
Remote (Up to 50% travel: office/investigations)/Hybrid-MD Office (Up to 25% travel: investigations)
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Collaborate with all departments to assist with analytics, records review, social media, and database searches. Complete detailed, professional reports of research and findings. Conduct on-site surveillance and activities checks for small to high complexity exposures in all lines of business (Worker's Compensation, Auto, Property, and General Liability) Conduct surveillance of subjects using various forms of technological tools Document activities observed in a detailed, professional investigative report. Make recommendations for further investigation when evidence of fraud is uncovered. Conduct special investigations, including but not limited to recorded statements, interviews, scene investigations/photos, interacting with law enforcement and other governmental agencies to secure and retrieve evidence. Assist in developing and training office personnel on fraud awareness. Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Associates degree; Bachelor's degree preferred 1-3 years of SIU experience with General Liability, Personal Injury, Worker's Compensation, and/or Property Casualty areas. 1-3 years of claims industry, law enforcement and/or fraudulent claims surveillance experience.
