Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Programs & Compliance is directly responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing the organizational approach to creating an Optimal Club Experience for youth ages 6 to 18 with an emphasis on long term organizational strategy. Specifically, this position will oversee a broad range of programmatic operations with the primary concern for program development, implementation, and evaluation; program grant reporting/compliance, program/community outreach; collaboration and partnership; Club membership records and tracking.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to ensure that the organization continues to operate high-quality, impactful programs; is well-positioned and prepared to meet the ever-changing needs of youth, the community, and our stakeholders; and otherwise continues to be an advocate for youth and the youth development organization of choice; recommend changes as needed to align programming to organizational goals and strategy.
  • Establish outcome objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
  • Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards, goals, and grant requirements. Ensure that each program at each site has a program schedule.
  • Create program prescriptions for all grants and ensure a successful integration of prescriptions into the daily program schedule.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and facilitate program specific training for all program staff.
  • Ensure quality improvement of programs by conducting regular program evaluations and annual written analysis of member needs and interests.
  • Compile monthly statistical reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation. Grants Management/Applications
  • Provide oversight on all grant-related deliverables, ensuring all program requirements are met and all documentation is complete and stored for the appropriate amount of time based on local, state and federal reporting guidelines.
  • Ensure accurate and practical evaluation of programs, implement plans for improvement and develop ongoing systems for measuring and assessing reach and impact.
  • Manage individual program outcomes evaluation process and assist in analysis and reporting.
  • Provide evaluation data to other departments as needed for reporting, fund development and executive level program analysis.
  • Provide program assessment and evaluation and provide leadership and direction regarding continuation, expansion, or elimination of programs.
  • Develop and utilize communication tools and systems to conduct program support, information sharing, problem solving and overall programmatic integrity.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate submission of programmatic reports including (but not limited to) BGCA Annual Report, GA Alliance DHS Grant, United Way partnership, and OJP allocations, providing necessary training on regulations to staff, and ensuring agency consistency in program execution.
  • Create and/or review grant applications to ensure that they align with the organization's mission and strategy. Strategic Planning
  • Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensure programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender, age and cultural diversity.
  • Oversee proper record keeping and reporting of all programs including community outreach, programmatic statistical data, special activities, and events conducted. Demonstrate breakdown of daily program participation data, notable achievements, and any problem/issues.
  • Evaluate overall program effectiveness and program quality based on participation and achievement of stated goals; recommend modification to improve program performance or create new program offerings; oversee development of evaluations for programs. Manage the quality improvement process.
  • Serve as the staff liaison to the board's planning and support & other board committees and collaborate with Chair to set meeting agendas, prepare materials, and follow up on Committee questions and requests.
  • Conduct surveys, town halls and other feedback mechanisms to ensure and informed data-driven approach to decision making.
  • In collaboration with the CEO, facilitate the strategic planning process with the Board of Directors. Marketing and Public Relations
  • Collaborate with Marketing to increase the visibility of BGC of Albany's brand, services and activities ensuring that Boys & Girls of Albany is positioned as the youth development organization of choice in southwest Georgia.
Supervisory Responsibilities Provide direct and indirect supervision to full and part-time Club staff Provide regular and appropriate feedback including training, opportunities for professional growth, verbal and written improvement plans when needed, and regular evaluations.

e. National Boys & Girls Clubs Week, and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary).
LEADERSHIP
  • Ensure an Environment that contributes to the Programs and Services that prepare youth for success.
RESOURCE & DATA MANAGEMENT
  • Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Club's annual budget, ensuring that club-wide programs and activities are operated within established budgetary guidelines. Take care of equipment and resources.
  • Ensure System Data Integrity related to programs and services. Optimizes and manages Data Management Systems (KidTrax) to ensure full utilization of the platform. Recommends new systems as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate program staff training and workshops.
PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
  • Develop strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships with other youth-serving organizations, members, parents, families and community organizations that are meaningful and outcome-driven.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Relationships Internal:
  • Maintain daily contact with program and administrative staff to interpret and explain organizational mission and standards; discuss issues and provide/receive information.
  • Serve as staff liaison for organization's Program committee and other advisory committees to ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis.
External:
  • Maintain contact with external community and school groups, Board members, members' parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and to market/promote Club.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated ability to gather, coordinate, analyze data.
  • Knowledge of information management systems.
  • Ability to complete and timely disseminate quality reports.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with youth, parents, community leaders, school leaders and government representatives.
  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, critical thinking, decision making and delegation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Recruitment, selection, development, management, and evaluation of staff. Education and Experience
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university related to the mission of the organization is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • A combination of work experience and education may be substituted.
  • BGCA Tier 2 Trainer (or willingness to obtain) is highly preferred. Skills required in the following areas:
