Job Description

Lead Safety Across HazMat Fleets and Chemical Sites Picture your day: you begin by scanning CSA score trends, then meet with terminal managers to fine-tune Hours-of-Service controls. After lunch, you walk a chemical facility to validate SPCC controls and Hazard Communication practices, and you close the day prepping the team for an upcoming multi-agency audit. If you thrive at the intersection of hazardous materials transportation safety and chemical industry environmental compliance , this role puts you at the helm. What You Will Lead Enterprise EHS oversight: Own safety and regulatory compliance for both bulk hazmat transport operations and chemical facility operations across multiple locations and states. HazMat transportation safety (FMCSA/PHMSA): Administer and audit Driver Qualification Files. Oversee Drug & Alcohol program management. Ensure Hours of Service compliance and controls. Coordinate DOT inspections and monitor
CSA BASIC
performance. Deliver hazmat driver training and maintain regulatory adherence.
Chemical EHS compliance:
Guide SARA Tier II reporting. Maintain robust Hazard Communication programs. Prepare for and manage EPA inspections and corrective actions. Own and update SPCC plans. Enforce compliant chemical storage and handling practices.
Regulatory audit leadership:
Lead readiness and response for DOT, EPA, and OSHA inspections and for industry compliance schemes such as ACD Responsible Distribution (or similar). Incident reduction & risk management: Drive root cause investigations, build practical safety programs, lead driver coaching and accountability, and track performance with data-driven KPIs. What You Bring Direct, hands-on leadership of safety programs within a hazmat transportation fleet (beyond general trucking or warehouse safety). Experience managing environmental and safety programs in chemical manufacturing, distribution, or hazardous materials facilities. Success implementing consistent programs across multiple terminals/facilities and states. Proficiencies Hazardous Materials Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification Workplace Safety & EHS Management DOT & Equipment Inspection Compliance Salary $75,000/year - $95,000/year (based on experience)
