Please note: The salary range above represents this position's earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $87,235 to $118,592, based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking an Environmental Compliance Supervisor to serve in the office of Licensure and Regulatory Services, Public Health Services to further the mission by ensuring safety through education and regulatory compliance for promoting well-being within the community. Services. This is a supervisory level position responsible for overseeing the daily activities and operations of the Environmental Health Inspection Program in the Office of Licensure and Regulatory Services. The position is responsible for assigning the inspections and investigations of licensed facilities in the designated areas of the County Environmental Health Specialists and reviewing their work in terms of effectiveness in meeting the program objectives. Duties include ensuring that inspections of all licensed food service facilities, swimming pools, group homes, private schools and camps are conducted and regulations governing these facilities are enforced to protect the health and safety of the public. The position will assist in writing new regulations, up-dating current policies, documents, and procedures. The position directly supervises ten Environmental Health Specialists and conducting their performance planning and evaluations. Ability to become a Local Standardization Officer and be responsible for training and standardizing Environmental Health Specialists. Conduct regular training and meetings on topics related to the food service and swimming pool industry for the EHS staff and our customers. Assists and directs Bodyworks program. This position
REQUIRES
possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license to conduct County-wide inspections attend enforcement activities and respond to time-sensitive public health situations.
Telework:
This position may be eligible for limited hybrid telework based on operational needs after the initial training period.
Experience :
Five (5) years of experience in environmental health investigatory/enforcement work after having attained Registration as an Environmental Sanitarian (or other equivalent registration).
Education :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Equivalency :
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
LICENSE :
Driver's License:
Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence. Registration as an
Environmental Health Specialist :
Possession of Registration as an Environmental Sanitarian in the State of Maryland .

Medical Protocol:
This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation, which includes a physical examination and drug screening. All Applicants will be reviewed by the Office of Human Resources (OHR) for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated "Qualified," placed on the Referred List, and may be considered for an interview. Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following: Experience holding a current Maryland Environmental Health Specialist registration and applying it in daily inspection/enforcement operations. Experience conducting at least five years of post-registration environmental health investigations, including analysis and enforcement across regulated facilities. Experience applying local, state, and federal environmental health laws and regulations in compliance actions or routine inspections. Experience drafting or updating environmental health regulations, policies, or procedural documents for licensed facilities. Experience communicating or negotiating with regulated entities in challenging compliance scenarios to achieve resolution. Experience responding to urgent or emergency environmental health situations requiring immediate investigation and corrective measures.
