Primary Role Missouri American Water i s seeking a full-time, Water Quality & Environmental Compliance Program Manager to join our team in Chesterfield, MO! This lab-based role is highly valuable in ensuring our treatment processes(s) are meeting or exceeding compliance standards. In this role, you will get to participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities, maintain lab inventory, perform sampling as well as other key responsibilities that support our production efforts. Our ideal candidate will possess great organization skills, be a self-starter, and have technical knowledge and experience of a lab environment and functions. The Water Quality and Environmental Program Manager is responsible for organizing advanced functions and activities related to environmental management and water quality for assigned facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining all applicable lab certifications, accreditations, or approvals to conduct compliance and process quality control work. Implements programs to ensure compliance with all water quality and environmental regulations. This position assists in resolving treatment issues. Investigates water quality complaints and determines course of action needed. #LI-BR1 #LI-On-Site Key Accountabilities Manage monitoring and reporting programs to ensure compliance with federal and state water quality and environmental regulations and company standards for assigned facilities Conduct advanced sampling and/or analysis and special projects (50%) Obtain, prepare, file and maintain all regulatory reports and records. Managed required permits and make any necessary modifications and renewals. Participate in internal and external audits and represent American Water with regulators and customers. Identify potential issues and problems and initiate responsive actions and mitigate environmental violations (10%) Supervise, monitor, and calibrate analyzers/equipment, etc. to ensure established standards of performance and accuracy are maintained (10%) Conduct advanced projects and prepare reports as needed (5%) Investigate and respond to escalated water quality complaints or concerns Reponsible for planning, preparing and controlling the portion of the financial plan relating to responsibilities (5%) Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of federal and state environmental standards and regulations and understanding of current environmental legislation and regulations Regulatory knowledge of proper lab analytical testing methods Must understand principles of water and/or wastewater treatment and be able to troublshoot systems Experience/Education Bachelors degree in a related field required Minimum of five (5) years experience in water, wastewater, and labratory operations Travel Requirements Local and regional travel Rare overnight travel may be required Work Schedule Full-time, on-site Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm On-call responsibility as needed Work Environment Laboratory, Indoor/Outdoor, production/office environments Competencies Champions safety Cultivates innovation Customer obsessed Drives Results Collaborates Nimble learning
