The Managing Director of International Markets is a senior executive role responsible for leading and growing Nelnet Business Service's international operations, including Nelnet International (Melbourne, Australia), and the expansion of new business ventures in India and other emerging markets, except for North America. This leader is expected to execute the overall strategy of the business including operational excellence, revenue generation, and new acquisition to drive growth and earnings across multiple geographies while ensuring alignment with NBS's global vision. This role will shape and execute NBS's international growth agenda, balancing near term performance of existing businesses with the identification and development of new global opportunities. Key Responsibilities Responsible for ongoing success and performance of existing international businesses and any new global businesses in markets outside of North America. Accountable for the income statement for international markets; ensure profitability and sustainable growth. Drive revenue generation through innovative market strategies and partnerships. Leverage knowledge of international education markets to develop and execute growth strategies. Identify and capitalize on emerging trends and opportunities in global education technology. Manage leaders across diverse geographies and cultures; foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence. Build and mentor high-performing teams to deliver on strategic objectives. Ensure compliance with local regulations and global standards. Implement best practices for scalability and efficiency across international operations. Represent NBS in international forums, client meetings, and strategic partnerships. Acts as the voice of international markets in enterprise decisions Willingness to travel extensively to international markets and the U.S. on a regular basis. Qualifications 10+ years of experience managing one or more international education or Saas-based businesses. Experience with cross-cultural business and communication Undergraduate degree required, master's degree preferred Proven track record of driving revenue growth and managing P&L at scale. Expertise in international education markets. Exceptional leadership skills with experience leading senior executives. Strong academic performance and record. Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking capabilities. International legal or regulatory experience Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment. Compensation range for this position is $225,000 to $300,000 depending on experience.
