Youth Rising is a multi-state nonprofit growing into a national organization , serving youth and young adults ages 11-24 through mental health support, prevention and intervention programs, workforce development, and services for justice-involved populations. We are a mission-driven, collaborative team that values strong culture, quality of life, and meaningful impact. While we have historically operated as a fully remote team across the country , we are now intentionally focusing on building a more local and regional leadership and administrative team to strengthen connection, collaboration, and execution.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5-10+ years of direct experience in federal/government grant writing and management (non-negotiable) Proven success securing and managing government funding Strong understanding of compliance, reporting, and grant structures Exceptional writing, organization, and deadline management skills Ability to operate both strategically and tactically Bachelor's degree required (non-negotiable); Master's preferredSTRONGLY PREFERRED FEDERAL GRANT EXPERIENCE
Experience writing and/or managing federal grants from agencies such as: SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) OJJDP (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention) Candidates with experience working with these agencies or closely related federal funding streams will be strongly prioritized.POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly experienced Grants Director who operates as both a strategic leader and hands-on grant writer/manager . Over time, additional team members will be added to the grants department. This role will own and drive the full grants function —from identifying and securing funding to managing compliance and reporting—while working closely with executive leadership. This is a senior-level role requiring deep expertise in federal and government grants . The ideal candidate is both highly strategic and highly execution-oriented. Youth Rising has extensive historical data, prior grant narratives, reports, and supporting materials , so you will not be building from scratch. Instead, you will be strengthening, refining, and expanding an already established foundation.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Leadership Lead and execute Youth Rising's grant funding strategy Identify and prioritize federal, state, and local funding opportunities Align funding strategy with organizational growth and program expansion Grant Writing & Submission Personally write and submit high-quality federal, state, and local grant proposals Leverage existing narratives, data, and reports to strengthen submissions Lead narrative development, budgets, and supporting documentation Grant Management & Compliance Oversee full lifecycle of grants: tracking, reporting, renewals, and compliance Maintain grant calendars, deliverables, and reporting timelines Ensure all funding requirements are met with accuracy and integrity Collaboration Work cross-functionally with program, finance, and leadership teams Gather outcomes, data, and program insights for proposals and reports Foundation Grants (Secondary) Support foundation grant opportunities as needed (preferred but not required)PREFERRED EXPERIENCE IN THESE AREAS

Must live locally or within driving distance to Grass Valley, CA Regular in-office presence required for collaboration Compensation is commensurate with experience and demonstrated expertise. Most candidates who meet baseline qualifications can expect to start in the $90k -$100k range. Candidates with significant, directly relevant experience and a strong track record may be considered closer to the top of the range. This role also includes the opportunity for compensation growth up to $110,000+ based on performance, successful grant outcomes, and overall contribution to the organization.HOW TO APPLY
