PURPOSE The Ethics & Compliance Investigator conducts investigations of both Civil Rights (Title IX sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual assault, including stalking and dating violence, and other protected class discrimination and harassment) complaints and non-civil rights complaints filed by faculty, staff, undergraduate, and graduate students at the University through the various campus complaint forums such as Ethics Point.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1:Compliance Percent Effort:
40% Conduct investigations of alleged civil rights discrimination, sexual harassment, and/or related retaliation on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law. Prepare well-written reports and other workplace-related complaints. Plan and establish timelines for investigations (identify and interview witnesses, gather and secure relevant documentation, prepare a comprehensive investigation report, etc.). Conduct credibility assessments and determinations and support outcomes. Continuously identify and integrate best practices to ensure quality investigations. Maintain accurate and thorough investigative files, reports, and documentation, as appropriate. Provide regular updates and status reports as necessary. Functional Area 2:Compliance Services Percent Effort:
30% Provides assistance to the Compliance Services Director (Civil Rights & Title IX Officer) in compliance-related activities and programming outreach efforts. Plans, schedules, coordinates, and assists in outreach events Functional Area 3:Support Percent Effort:
30% Supporting broader Ethics & Compliance initiatives (including creating and updating training materials annually and as needed). Draft ethics & compliance education materials and support efforts to improve compliance awareness. Generate applicable reports as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, pre-law emphasis, or related field. Two (2) or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas: investigations, regulatory compliance, consulting, risk management, legal, or business administration. Strong working knowledge of compliance laws (civil rights, ethics & compliance), regulations, and investigation best practices Strong investigative judgment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion, fairness, neutrality, maintain confidentiality, and independence. Strong critical thinking skills, writing skills, and excellent attention to detail. Excellent interviewing, analytical, and writing skills with the ability to distill facts into clear, defensible outcomes. Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to assess and navigate complex, highly sensitive & stressful situations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint). Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree, in Management, Business Administration, or related field. PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP certification Five (5) years of experience working in civil rights, ethics & compliance, and/or experience in research, writing, and editing documents/reports. ATIXA investigator certification. Five (5) years of experience in Title IX/Civil Rights investigations in a university or corporate setting.SALARY:
$50,000 - $54,000/annually $4,166.67 - $4,500/monthlyNOTE:
