Job Description

Akima Global Technology (AGT),is seeking a highly skilled and mission‑driven Senior Cybersecurity Compliance Lead to oversee enterprise‑wide cybersecurity compliance activities and ensure alignment with federal, DoD, and organizational security requirements. In this senior leadership role, the Lead will guide the development, execution, and continuous improvement of compliance programs, ensuring systems, processes, and teams adhere to all applicable regulations, frameworks, and policies. The ideal candidate will serve as the Subject Mater Expert (SME) on Cybersecurity Compliance, partnering closely with leadership, technical teams, auditors, and external stakeholders to strengthen the Military Sealift Command's (MSC) security posture and maintain a culture of accountability and readiness. Responsibilities Lead the design, implementation, and governance of cybersecurity compliance programs across the enterprise, ensuring alignment with NIST, FISMA, DoD, and organizational frameworks. Develop, maintain, and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures that support regulatory and mission requirements. Establish compliance methodologies, quality benchmarks, and reporting structures to ensure consistent execution across all systems and teams. Direct internal and external cybersecurity audits, inspections, and assessments, ensuring complete documentation, timely responses, and closure of findings. Oversee the preparation and maintenance of audit‑ready artifacts, evidence repositories, and compliance documentation. Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, assessors, and oversight bodies, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and alignment throughout the audit lifecycle. Lead the evaluation, validation, and monitoring of security controls to ensure proper implementation and sustained compliance. Oversee the identification, documentation, and remediation of compliance gaps, risks, and vulnerabilities, ensuring alignment with mission priorities and regulatory expectations. Guide the development and management of POA&Ms, ensuring accurate reporting, prioritization, and timely closure. Serve as the senior subject matter expert for cybersecurity compliance, advising leadership on regulatory changes, risk implications, and strategic compliance initiatives. Collaborate with system owners, engineers, ISSOs, and program managers to ensure compliance requirements are understood, implemented, and continuously improved. Review system architectures, processes, and security documentation to ensure compliance with applicable frameworks and best practices. Lead continuous monitoring activities, ensuring ongoing control assessments, documentation updates, and proactive identification of compliance risks. Develop and maintain compliance dashboards, metrics, and executive‑level reporting to provide visibility into organizational compliance posture. Evaluate emerging regulations, technologies, and threat trends, recommending enhancements to strengthen compliance maturity and operational resilience. Mentor and guide junior compliance analysts and cybersecurity staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role is based out of Norfolk, VA, and provides support to Ashore and Afloat cybersecurity operations as required for Compliance Oversight and Governance Services to MSC. This role is essential in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of MSC's systems and data while enabling mission success through secure, compliant, and resilient operations. Qualifications An Active DoD SECRET clearance is required for consideration. Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience required; or greater than 15 years of relevant experience required in lieu of degree is required. IAM III level Certification such as
CISSP, CISM, CGRC, CASP+ CE, CISA
