Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Supervising Deputy Attorney General of the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud & Elder Abuse, the legal analyst performs a wide variety of difficult and complex paralegal duties, primarily in criminal investigations and prosecutions, including, but not limited to: assisting attorneys in the reviewing and filing of criminal complaints, law and motions, and other pleadings; collecting, reviewing and managing sizable case files, voluminous records, documents, data sets, and information gathered during investigations and prosecutions; obtaining information, documents, and certified records from government agencies and courts; obtaining state, national, and international certified business, corporate, and property records; preparing, providing and monitoring all records for discovery; preparing subpoenas, witness lists, and exhibits; coordinating witness travel and appearances for court; preparing jury instructions and verdict forms; regularly performing legal research using Westlaw, library resources, such as federal and state codes, statutes, regulations, and other online sources; drafting letters to outside agencies and offices, and to the governor for applications, requisitions, and certifications for extradition. Monday•Friday Department Information This Legal Analyst position is located in the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse, Criminal Prosecutions Section, West Covina. Individuals who are new to State service must have list eligibility in order to gain employment with the Office of the Attorney General. To access the Legal Analyst Examination and obtain list eligibility, please click HERE.
