Job Description

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a sophisticated, efficient team? Come join the City of Redondo Beach as an Analyst! The current Analyst opening is in the City Clerk's Office. The Analyst works under general supervision and will perform professional level duties such as preparing and publishing the City Council Agendas and assisting departments with commission agendas. This is an in-person job opportunity, with great benefits and a 9/80 work schedule with a paid extended holiday closure between Christmas and New Years Day. All applicants must attach a current resume. The Analyst will be in charge of preparing and publishing the City Council agendas and work with other departments to publish commission agendas. This position will also train departments on how to complete and post commission agendas, prepare staff reports, and oversee the City's various commissions. The listed tasks are essential for this position and may include but are not limited to the following: Performs various assignments and provides administrative staff support services; Compiles and analyzes various types of data required for resolutions, reports and surveys, and participates in their preparation; Participates in the preparation of specifications; Monitors activity reports; Provides information to and consults with the public; Maintains liaison with departments and other agencies; Participates in budget preparation and monitors budget expenditures; Researches and evaluates grants-in-aid funding sources and participates in the preparation of grant applications; Attends meetings and training sessions.
Knowledge of:
Research and analytical methods; basic principles and practices of public or business administration.
Ability to:
Learn the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the department assigned; compile, analyze, and evaluate data; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; effectively communicate in writing and orally; meet prescribed physical/medical standards for employment; legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a baccalaureate degree in an occupationally related field and approximately one year of municipal experience. Additional occupationally related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to four (4) years. Experience working with an agenda management system is highly desirable.
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process may include but is not limited to: Application review and evaluation, written examination, performance test and interview. For public safety positions, including positions based in the Police and/or Fire Department(s), the pre-employment process may also include but not be limited to a P.O.S.T. compliant background check, polygraph examination, post-offer medical examination and drug test, and post-offer psychological examination.
