Job Description

State of Idaho Tax Commission Career Opportunity NOTICE:

Join our team as a Tax Compliance Officer 1, where you will play a vital role in collecting delinquent taxes owed to the state of Idaho, enforcing tax laws and rules through administrative procedures, and promoting voluntary compliance. You will also provide invaluable taxpayer assistance and education. If you are passionate about public service, this position is for you! Responsibilities:
Collection:
Enforce Idaho tax laws through the collection process for all tax types administered by the Tax Commission Interview individuals to obtain facts and research a variety of sources to obtain financial information Consult with the taxpayer or their representative and advise them that liens, levies and warrants may be executed Secure and review taxpayer financial statements and obtain and verify information provided Provide technical assistance, educate taxpayers on Idaho tax laws, and ensure that taxpayers are in compliance Complete tasks outside of the office environment as part of the collection process (serving liens and levies) Assist taxpayers who visit the office by providing support at the front counter (for positions located at our field offices: Coeur d'Alene, Lewiston, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Twin Falls) Answering the Compliance Incoming Burst call line (for positions located at our Boise office)
Investigation/Inspection:
Review taxpayer financial records to determine the taxpayer's ability to pay Perform research and interpret applicable rules, laws, and relevant business or individual financial information Advise individuals and business owners of tax liability and monetary fines for failure to pay
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 6 months of experience interpreting, applying, and explaining laws, regulations, policies, and/or procedures to others At least 6 months of full-time experience where you were required to deal with variety of customers in an office setting or while conducting field work At least 6 months of experience requiring in-depth, one-on-one interviewing to elicit facts of a sensitive nature Why Join Us?
