Permit Writer (Oversize/Overweight Transportation)

Full-Time Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Permit Writer to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing and processing oversize and overweight (OS/OW) permits for commercial carriers operating across multiple states. We are open to candidates with experience as well as motivated individuals who are willing to learn, as training will be provided as needed. This is a strong opportunity for someone looking to build or grow a career in transportation, logistics, and permitting.
Requirements/Duties:
Prepare and submit oversize/overweight permit applications for multiple states Review load details including dimensions, weight, and routing information for accuracy and compliance Communicate with state agencies to obtain permits and resolve issues or delays Assist in route planning and ensure all restrictions and requirements are met Maintain accurate records of permits and supporting documentation Provide timely updates to drivers, dispatchers, and customers Follow and apply state-specific permitting regulations
Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Good written and verbal communication skills Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience:
Experience in permit writing, transportation, logistics, dispatch, or trucking is preferred but not required Training will be provided for candidates with strong aptitude and willingness to learn
Work Environment:
In-office position located in Glen Ellyn, IL Small, friendly team environment Monday-Friday schedule with occasional flexibility based on workload Overtime available Opportunity for long-term growth and advancement within the company
Compensation & Benefits:
$18-$35 per hour, based on experience Health insurance available Paid holidays
Pay:
$18.00 - $35.00 per hour
