DePuy Synthes is recruiting for an Export Controls Analyst, located in Raynham, Massachusetts, Raritan, New Jersey, West Chester, Pennsylvania, or Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. Job Overview The Export Controls Analyst supports DePuy Synthes' global trade compliance program by helping ensure that international shipments, transactions, and business activities comply with applicable export control laws and regulations. This role plays a critical part in protecting the company's ability to operate globally by enabling compliant trade, mitigating regulatory risk, and supporting business continuity across manufacturing and supply chain operations. The position offers exposure to global regulations and cross‑functional collaboration within a highly regulated medical technology environment. Key Responsibilities Support day‑to‑day export controls activities, including screening, classification, and transaction reviews to ensure compliance with applicable export regulations. Assist with export control classifications (e.g., ECCN determinations) for products, technology, and documentation. Review international shipment documentation and system transactions to confirm adherence to export control requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company retention requirements. Monitor regulatory changes and support impact assessments to determine potential business implications. Partner with supply chain, logistics, quality, and legal teams to resolve export‑related questions and issues. Support internal audits, assessments, and corrective actions related to export controls. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process documentation, metrics, and training materials. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree required (Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Law, or a related field preferred).
Experience and Skills Required:
2-4 years of relevant professional experience in export controls, global trade compliance, or a related regulatory/compliance function. Working knowledge of U.S. export control regulations (e.g., EAR) and global trade compliance concepts. Experience reviewing transactional data and documentation for regulatory compliance. Ability to work effectively in a regulated, process‑driven environment. Proficiency with standard business systems and tools (e.g., ERP systems, Microsoft Office).
Preferred:
Experience supporting export controls within a manufacturing, life sciences, or medical device environment. Familiarity with global trade management or restricted party screening systems. Experience participating in audits or regulatory assessments. Understanding international supply chain and logistics processes. Ability to collaborate across functions and communicate compliance requirements clearly. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
