About the Role The Data Protection Specialist is a vital role responsible for ensuring the secure and compliant handling of technical data across the organization. This role focuses on compliance with Trade Compliance regulations, controlled unclassified information (CUI) protocols, export control requirements, data rights markings, and intellectual property classification. Cafeteria, fitness center, and outdoor fitness track Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect Understand and interpret regulations impacting tagging, including trade compliance, intellectual property, export compliance, and controlled unclassified informationServe as the primary contact and liaison for technical Data Protection tagging within TeamcenterAssign classification of products using the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Commerce Control List (CCL), informed compliance publications, and company engineering materialsPrioritize data tagging needs in the tagging workflow for all objects, ensuring timely classification based on need by datePerform mass updates based on regulation changes to ensure data securityApply appropriate data protection methods (projects and licenses)Analyze technical data and clearly articulate the appropriate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code as necessaryAssign Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs), and regional trade-related codes to primary and secondary productsWork with key internal stakeholders to review related data and agreements to ensure complianceSupport various stages of audits and assessmentsCollaborate with the Information Security function(s) to maintain records of all data assets and exports and maintain the databaseAct as a subject matter expert for data transfers and secure collaborationProvide departmental training as requiredPerform other duties as assigned Minimum Position Requirements Must be a U.S. Person (i.e., a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)A minimum of 7 years of related experienceProficiency in analyzing technical data, including engineering drawingsFamiliarity with Defense articlesStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesProficient communication, organization, and prioritization skillsDetail-orientedDemonstrated skill in Microsoft Office applicationsGoal-oriented and able to work under time-sensitive and demanding conditions Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with Oracle and TeamcenterFamiliarity with ITAR, Department of Commerce licensing, customs regulations, EAR, and export and licensing regulationsExperience with requirements and maintenance of conditions issued by the U.S. Department of CommerceIn-depth understanding and experience with ECCN classification methodologyAbility to work with Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain to properly assign HTS Codes, ECCN, and Country of Origin for all fabricated and purchased parts.
