Job Description

Performs skilled technical work in planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, and conducting the department Paramedic Academy for EMT-Paramedic Trainees, and related work as apparent or assigned. Will maintain trainee records, compile, schedule, and analyze quality management data and audits, provide remediation to EMT-Paramedic Trainees when necessary, and provide educational instruction. Work is performed under the general direction of the Emergency Services Training Coordinator and/or Emergency Medical Services Assistant Operations Officer. Bachelor's Degree and three to five years working in an Emergency Services related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a NC Paramedic certification, three years of working experience as a Paramedic, and ability to acquire and maintain NC Level II instructor certification. Instructor experience preferred. Essential Functions Develop, plan and execute annual and periodic scope-of-practice testing, curriculums, workshops, and provide instruction for all divisions and other agencies as needed or required. Prepares, selects, assembles, and distributes educational information and material to employees, local agencies or organizations, professional groups, or other interested groups. Develop, administer and maintain a quality management system and conduct random and scheduled audits. Compile and analyze the quality management data to provide detailed reports that highlight activities and performance in each area, and present the data to management and relevant officials. Maintain electronic employee training records for all medical first responders within the county, update appropriate state or federal databases, and assist employees and first responders with preparation for re-credentialing through the state agencies. Works closely with the Medical Director, ES Division Majors, Captains and shift supervisors in all divisions to identify areas of individual employee performance that requires attention; develops performance improvement plans (PIP) for those employees, and provide oversight and supervision during the PIP period. Assist employees and all medical first responders with local and state testing requirements, as well as scheduling oral and written review with the Medical Director. Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with the public, and with federal, state and county agency personnel. Emergency Management duties and responsibilities as assigned during emergency operations center activations, exercise, training, specials events and/or emergency incidents. Acquire and maintain other credentials as required (ie., Telecommunicator, Emergency Management, Fire, Rescue, etc…). Abides by, enforces and participates in the implementation and ongoing oversight of Randolph County Government safety standards and regulations.
