Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Why does the job exist? The primary function of this position is to provide inspection services of licensed facilities with the Cannabis Control Division. This position is administratively based out of the Santa Fe office location; however, the incumbent will work primarily from a state-issued vehicle to enhance operational efficiency, providing inspections at licensed facilities within Curry, DeBaca, Quay, Harding's and Guadalupe Counties. The position will work collaboratively with the Division's Compliance Manager, Compliance Officers, Investigators and Legal Staff to ensure compliance with the Cannabis Regulatory Act and Division Rules by conducting on-site inspections of all licensed facilities. This position will educate and work with licensees to help them correct any violations, refer matters concerning repeat or serious violations for investigation or disciplinary action. - Conduct on-site inspections of cannabis producer, manufacturer and retailer establishments licensed by the Division;
- Prepare inspection checklists;
- Issue notices of violations;
- Assure compliance with corrective action plans;
- Maintain and update inspection tracker, licensing database and track and trace software;
- Collect samples of cannabis or cannabis products for necessary testing;
- Assist with investigations;
- Present for witness testimony during administrative disciplinary hearings;
- Administer duties relating to compliance of the rules, regulations and practice acts;
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; must write comprehensive reports in a manner that makes it easy for the reader to understand and to be fully informed; and
- Must be able to regularly/daily operate a provided state vehicle for purposes of essential travel to/from inspection sites and other locations as necessary to carry out the duties of the position
- Other duties as assigned.

- Experience in New Mexico state government, regulatory work, law enforcement, investigations or educational background or interest in compliance or a related field.
Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. We are looking for applicants who live or reside in either Curry, DeBaca, Quay, Hardings or Guadalupe County. Working Conditions Field setting, extensive computer and phone usage; long periods of sitting, standing and driving; occasional overnight in-state travel, and exposure to cannabis, cannabis products, UV lights, pesticides, allergens, flammable chemicals, and various weather conditions. Must be able to regularly/daily operate a provided state vehicle for purposes of essential travel to/from inspection sites and other locations as necessary to carry out the duties of the position.
