DESCRIPTION
Join our Global Trade Compliance team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to ensuring effective international trade operations. As a Compliance Specialist III, you'll maintain regulatory compliance across operations while supporting business growth. You'll work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement trade compliance strategies, provide guidance on import/export regulations, and ensure adherence to all applicable laws and corporate policies. In this role, you'll manage trade compliance processes, conduct risk assessments, and serve as a subject matter expert for regional trade operations. You'll contribute to process improvements, provide training, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and government agencies to optimize global trade activities. Your work will directly impact our ability to serve customers efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of compliance.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in global trade compliance for multinational corporations
Preferred Fields of Study:
International Trade, Business, Law, or related field
  • Professional certifications in customs/trade compliance (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist, CTCS) are a plus
  • Expert knowledge of international trade regulations, including US, EU, and local country requirements
  • Strong understanding of import/export controls, customs regulations, and trade agreements
  • Experience with denied party screening, license applications, and trade documentation
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and global trade management software
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Experience conducting compliance audits and implementing corrective actions
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver trade compliance training
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (PPI, Kaizen)
