Summary:
Ensures that all charges for facility and professional fees arising from services related to clinical research protocols or special programs are consistently segregated and billed to the appropriate payer with proper coding and reimbursement. Analyst ensures compliance with payer requirements and regulations, helps eliminate risks of double-billing to both a study sponsor and an insurer and minimize unnecessary denials. Routinely interact with industry sponsors, internal key stakeholders, and the research team. This position will serve as the centralized point of contact for specific billing issues related to research and special program billing. Fosters a culture of compliant research and special billing in support of an expanding research portfolio at Summa Health.
Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, information technology, healthcare or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience & Training Required:
a. Two (2) years' experience in research, or healthcare. b. Epic EMR experience, preferred
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Possesses high integrity and is not otherwise engaged in duties that conflict with the goals of the system. b. Ability to use software applications such as Word and Excel with advanced proficiency. c. Understanding of the research revenue cycle and coverage analysis, payer coverage rules, the Medicare Clinical Trial Policy, IDE billing rules, and related State and Federal regulations, preferred. d. Strong working knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services rules for clinical trial billing, preferred. e. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to human subject research as set forth by the FDA, NIH and other agencies, preferred. f. Position requires ability to research, organize, analyze, and synthesize data to support effective decision-making. g. Ability to multi-task and work independently. h. Strong communication skills. i. Ability to analyze a problem and use critical thinking in finding a resolution. j. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
