Job Description

Essential Job Functions Executes the Driver recruiting process and the process for qualification of Drivers and equipment. Works with service providers and vendors to ensure compliance with the Company's core values and best practices. Works with the Dispatch office and terminal management to ensure adherence with the DOT regulations and the Company's policies. Facilitates the S&C functions, Drivers and S&C Administrative Personnel. Ensures all site safety certificate requirements are met, posted and filed. Reviews road testing to ensure that all Drivers comply with the DOT regulations and company policy. This may also include conducting vehicle and trailer inspections. May conduct periodic terminal safety audits which include facility, drivers, equipment, and vendors. Plans and promotes safety programs. Works closely with Field Safety and Compliance staff to promote and provide safety expertise and in the development and presentation of safety training materials. Performs or assists with accident investigations, as needed. Handles all aspects of safety and compliance, including Contractor on-boarding, Driver training, Independent Contractor relations, compliance with government regulations and company policies and overall safety. This includes training of staff, contractors, and vendors where needed. Assists the Safety and Compliance Manager with overseeing the processes of safety and compliance in regards to trucking, warehousing, client service, fleet maintenance, dispatch operations and information collection and analysis. Protects Company's image by keeping company and employee information confidential. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Other duties as assigned. Other Skills & Abilities Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management. Ability to motivate employees to work at their very best while creating a positive environment. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are a must for any position in operations. Detail oriented, self-motivated, and the ability to work independently are essential competencies. Keeping the organization to run smoothly from day-to-day requires excellent organizational skills and ability to solve problems quickly and move on. Managing multiple tasks, issues, drivers, and trucks with regard to DOT compliance is very complex and requires multi-tasking, problem solving and quick decision making for effective outcomes. Ability to work in a fast paced work environment This also includes collecting and analyzing information created from reports and systems, which also requires the ability to organize information into usable reports and graphs to aid in the decision making process. Physical Requirements Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment. Education & Experience Must have knowledge of federal and state regulations for the transportation of goods, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, dangerous goods regulations, and transportation modes. Certification & Licenses Professional certification may be required in some areas
