Job Description

Worker's Compensation/Revenue Recovery Office Location:
900 Pennsylvania Avenue, Charleston, WV 25302 The Workers' Compensation / Revenue Recovery section is responsible for the collection of fines imposed on employers when the workers' compensation coverage has been cancelled and collection from the employer monies due to the Uninsured Employer's Fund for workers' compensation claims the state may pay on behalf of an uninsured employer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing the following duties:- Determine if employer-employee relationships exist as defined by West Virginia workers' compensation rules.
- Analyze complex data from various databases to determine if workers' compensation coverage is required.
- Establish uninsured accounts for those employers who did not carry the statutorily required workers' compensation coverage.
- Communicate with employers to resolve their compliance situations along with collecting unpaid balances on uninsured fine and claim accounts.
- Decide appropriate settlement and collection tactics based on compliance with applicable rules and procedures.
- Compilation of information to prepare liens against employers who have failed to satisfy unpaid balances on fine or claim accounts and will also prepare lien releases when account balances have been satisfied.
- Collection of needed information to accurately process the termination of coverage forms.
- Will testify in circuit court hearings of cases when the state is seeking injunctive relief and at administrative hearings to determine if an employer-employee relationship exists.
- Participation in formal and informal training on the specialized functions of the unit, regarding workers' compensation law and rules.
- Assist in training other Insurance Compliance Analysts, when needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Training:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.OR Substitution:
Additional qualifying experience as described below may be substituted for the required training at the rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of education.AND Experience:
Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in insurance, insurance regulation, collections, financial analysis, accounting, and/or a related field.OR Substitution:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. Come join our team!
