Full-Time About Us Custom Millwork, Inc. is a leading supplier of doors, trim, hardware and custom millwork products serving residential and commercial builders across the Twin Cities for over 50 years. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Credit Manager to oversee our organization's entire credit-granting process. This role's primary mission is to optimize sales while minimizing financial risk and "bad debt" (uncollectible invoices). This role acts as a critical link between sales, purchasing, and accounting departments.
Key Responsibilities Risk Assessment:
Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and payment histories to determine the creditworthiness of new and existing customers.
Policy Development:
Establish and enforce company credit policies, including setting credit limits, payment terms, and interest rates.
Collections Oversight:
Manage accrounts receivable and lead collection efforts for overdue accounts, including negotiating repayment plans or working with third-party agencies.
Contracts:
Negotiating and signing complex commercial and residential contracts; recognizing and minimizing risk.
Decision Making:
Approve or reject significant credit applications and contracts based on risk modeling and potential profitability.
Compliance:
Ensure all lending procedures adhere to local and federal regulations, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA).
Reporting:
Prepare regular reports on credit exposure, "Days Sales Outstanding" (DSO), and the health of the loan portfolio for senior management.
Accounts Payable:
Maintain accounts payable and distribution of checks to vendors and suppliers, ensuring expenses are approved by authorized personnel and matched to purchase orders.
Payroll:
Responsible for accurately processing company payroll, calculating wages, tax deductions, commissions, and bonuses in compliance with company standards all while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Assistant Controller:
Supports the Controller with month-end closing, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
What We're Looking For Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
Technical Proficiency:
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with pre-liens, mechanics liens, contracts, mortgages & satisfactions. Highly organized with strong problem-solving and negotiating skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workflows simultaneously. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
