Job Description

Credit Manager Responsible for overall leadership of the Accounts Receivable department and overseeing assigned personnel. Supervises activities in the accounts receivable function. Responsible for collection activities such as sending follow-up inquiries, negotiating with past due accounts, maintaining cash receipts, and referring accounts to collection agencies. Responsible for the handling of confidential information, requiring good judgment, discretion, and sound technical skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team on special projects. Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. The position requires continuous attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing policies, internal control processes, procedures, and analytical information that address the changing needs of the company Following existing policies and procedures, while demonstrating appropriate judgment as it relates to releasing and holding of orders Review customers for credit worthiness, including the review of D&Bs, financial statements, credit references in order to recommend credit limits to the CFO Assigning, auditing, and directing the workflow of all department members Establishing strong relationships with internal and external customers to resolve issues and develop solutions that meet the company's goals both financially and operationally Hiring, managing, and training department staff Working with Internal Audit to ensure compliance with SOx 404 requirements Using SAP to manage the addition of customers, credit limits, credit holds, and customer blocks Determine method and timing regarding collections efforts Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to sales personnel and financial management Working with confidential data; participating in complex projects

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent work experience 5-7 years' experience with accounts receivable with at least 3 years of supervisory experience Competencies and Skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to multi-task and willingness to learn new skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage two to three people Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing organization Ability to deal effectively with deadlines, including monthly closing schedules High level of organization, professionalism, and attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and communication skills High ethical standards; high degree of initiative, self-motivation, perception, and independent judgment Demonstrated commitment to Company values, policies, procedures, and controls Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization Strong working command of the English language, with excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities, while managing multiple projects
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand, sit, and walk Long periods of sitting are required, as well as long periods of working on the computer Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:
Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards. The following Personal Protective Equipment is required: • Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
