The Senior Credit Officer (SCO) is responsible for ensuring the integrity and creditworthiness of the commercial portfolio in accordance with the Bank's loan policy and regulatory guidelines. The SCO will manage the underwriting and documentation process of all new loan relationships and the management of the portfolio of loans on an ongoing basis. The SCO will also be responsible for reviewing action plans and consulting on exit strategies on any troubled credits. The SCO reports to the Chief Credit Officer and will ensure that proper approval records and portfolio management reporting are prepared and communicated in a consistent and concise manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with Relationship Managers on the initial screening, underwriting and structuring of all new loan relationships. Identify, report and track any policy or guideline exceptions. Manage the day-to-day portfolio management functions including daily client service, covenant and borrowing base review, financial review, internal reporting. Ensure proper risk rating assignment on all relationships. Recruit, train and manage credit analysts and commercial underwriters.Competencies Required:
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and concern for accuracy. Excellent client service skills with the ability to effectively communicate clear expectations, issues and status, and take strong action steps when required. Ability to interact, influence, and communicate effectively with various internal and external parties. Knowledge of Bank policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) and ability to navigate loan and bank software applications and related websites.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of lending, credit and workout experience in the banking industry required. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team of underwriters and/or portfolio managers required.Formal Education & Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field required.Work Status:
Full-Time.Supervisory Responsibility:
2 or more direct reports.Travel:
Up to 25% - travel to Commercial Banking offices as necessary; travel to customer meetings as required for initial underwriting and portfolio management.Working Conditions:
Conditions involve lifting no more than ten pounds, sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, moving, or standing for brief periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying articles like files, ledgers, folders, etc.Disclaimer:
