Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC) Specialist to join our dynamic trade finance team. The ideal candidate will bring more than three years of specialized experience in trade finance administration, with a deep and practical understanding of international trade and the intricacies of standby letters of credit. This pivotal role requires strong technical expertise in handling Standby Letters of Credit (SBLC) and Commercial Letters of Credit, as well as outstanding communication skills, rigorous attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex transactions under demanding deadlines. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the issuance and amendment of Standby Letters of Credit and Commercial Letters of Credit, ensuring compliance with international regulations (UCP, ISP98, U.S. Regulatory matters). Review, prepare, and process SBLCs and Commercial LCs received from the Front Office or directly from clients, validating letter of credit applications and terms for regulatory compliance. Process transactions via mail, email, and SWIFT, ensuring accurate and timely entry and updates in the Trade Finance system. Maintain thorough documentation by registering all transactions and supporting documents in the online document storage system, including the management of evergreen renewal terms and monitoring pending beneficiary consents . Track and control notification dates for evergreen clauses, ensuring timely requests and responses for beneficiary consents. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of international banking rules and regulations, including
UCP, ISP98, U.S.
regulatory standards, and the Bank's internal Code of Conduct. Participate in annual compliance training and diligently review all compliance-related materials provided by the Americas Compliance Division. Conduct comprehensive analysis and validation of LC terms to identify and mitigate operational risks, enhancing overall efficiency and compliance. Ensure all records and supporting documentation meet auditing and reporting requirements, maintaining a high standard of accuracy. Act as the designated point of contact for reporting potentially prohibited transactions (including those related to OFAC regulations) by performing due diligence checks in line with AML and Sanctions screening procedures. Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Capabilities Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required . Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in Trade Finance Operations, with a focus on Standby Letters of Credit. Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with all types of Documentary Credits and Standby Letters of Credit; in-depth familiarity with I.C.C. rules (UCP600, ISP98, and related publications) is essential. Certificate in International Trade & Finance (CITF) and/or Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) is highly desirable. Proven expertise in international trade, trade finance, and documentary credit management. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders. Ability to manage complex processes while maintaining an unwavering commitment to accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. The expected base salary ranges from $50,000 - $95,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained.
