Supervising DOJ Accredited Representative - Los Angeles The Organization Al Otro Lado is a binational legal services and immigrant rights organization serving immigrants, asylum seekers, and deported persons in Southern California, Tijuana, México, and beyond. We provide client-centered, multidisciplinary legal representation, engage in human rights monitoring and impact litigation, and work to protect individual rights while addressing systemic barriers within immigration and border enforcement systems. Our work is grounded in principles of dignity, access to justice, and harm reduction, and we collaborate closely with community-based organizations, academic institutions, and public interest partners. Through these partnerships, and with the support of hundreds of trained volunteers each year, we seek to deliver high-quality legal services and contribute to sustainable, community-informed approaches to immigrant justice. Position Summary Al Otro Lado seeks a Supervising DOJ Accredited Representative to oversee legal services within the U.S.-Based Advocacy (USBA) team in Los Angeles. This hybrid role combines legal supervision, intake coordination, administrative oversight, and program operations. Responsibilities include ensuring efficient workflows, compliance, and high-quality client representation. In-person work is required for USCIS interviews, client meetings, and team coordination as needed. Key Responsibilities Supervision & Team Management Supervise and mentor legal and administrative staff, including intake and operations roles Conduct 1:1 meetings, performance evaluations, and training support Monitor workload distribution and team capacity Oversee intake schedules for detained and non-detained clients Ensure timely case assignment and efficient use of Legal Server Operations & Protocol Oversight Develop and maintain internal protocols for case management, client communications, filing, and documentation Support onboarding and internal training materials Supervise administrative staff and office coordination functions, including supplies and client file management Legal Representation Maintain a reduced caseload, including affirmative (asylum, DACA, naturalization, adjustment of status) and defensive cases (bond, SIJS, asylum) Represent clients in USCIS interviews and proceedings Compliance & Reporting Ensure adherence to grant and reporting requirements Monitor data integrity in case management systems Support audits and program deliverables Other Duties Collaborate with the Los Angeles and San Diego teams Perform additional duties as needed Qualifications Required DOJ Accreditation (partial or full) or the ability to obtain Minimum 3 years of immigration law experience Fluency in English and Spanish Experience supervising staff or leading workflows Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience with case management systems (e.g., Legal Server, Google Workspace) Commitment to working with diverse immigrant communities Preferred Experience with affirmative asylum representation Experience managing intake systems and legal operations Knowledge of trauma-informed or client-centered practices Experience working with detained populations Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary of $80,000-$85,000, depending on experience. Al Otro Lado is piloting a 36-hour work week, with a half-day (4 hours) on Fridays. Payroll adjustments are made to ensure that all staff receive the same wages as in a 40-hour work week. Al Otro Lado's comprehensive benefits package includes: Health benefits: Al Otro Lado contributes up to 90% of employee medical & 70% of employee dental and vision premiums. Insurance coverage is effective on the 1st of the month following the employee's hire date
