Job Description

Summary of Position The Rocky Mountain Education Center within the Department of Workforce Services at Red Rocks Community College provides non-credit training opportunities designed to fit the needs of employers, industry, and the regional community. Non-credit Instructors provide instructional duties for the Department of Workforce Services within the Division of Academic Affairs with Red Rocks Community College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the Director and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Job duties and responsibilities include providing instruction, course participant assessment, course prep, some instructional design and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends of variable durations. The Department of Workforce Services strives to build active and engaging learning environments for course participants. We seek instructors with a commitment to their participants, a continuous pursuit for creating dynamic learning environments, and a passion for lifelong learning. Work is performed in varied office, business and classroom environments, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, with some responsibilities potentially occurring outside of these hours. RMEC instructors have the option to conduct both daytime and/or evening, with each block spanning 4-to-8-hour shifts. However, instructor schedules cannot exceed 28 hours during the week. Additionally, instructors are required to work at least one day within a 128-day period to maintain active status. This role may require up to 28 hours per week for a duration of up to 9 months, depending on departmental need and budget. The finalist must designate Colorado as their primary work location, including for any online instruction. This posting will remain open on a continuous basis, and applicants will be selected as needed until the position is filled or the posting expires.

This is a part-time, FLSA exempt temporary staff position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus). Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and typically underrepresented groups. Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction. Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate. Knowledge of computer applications. Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of instructional objectives and course development techniques. Skills with managing, preparing, and delivering courses in the classroom and in the field. Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions and procedures. Have some knowledge working with D2L or a similar LMS. Required Qualifications A degree or relevant industry certification from an accredited institution or in a closely related field.
Substitution:
Full-time professional industry experience directly related to the position duties may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis. Minimum five (5) years of industry related experience Preferred Qualifications A degree from an accredited institution in field of instruction. Relevant and current industry certification. Five (5) years of industry related experience. Physical & Cognitive Demands The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position. Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs. This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills. RRCC/CCCS
uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need.
