Job Description

Job Summary The Recovery Specialist is responsible for preserving the credit union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral. The incumbent will update processes, procedures and member contact information. Offers loan modification solutions and tracks repossessions consistent with delinquency strategies. Responsibilities Monitor payments for late and/or delinquency status Contact members with delinquent loans and/or negative accounts. Determine root cause for delinquency to see if temporary or permanent financial hardship Process correspondence for collections department Review and evaluate delinquent accounts, determining appropriate actions to be taken in accordance with Credit Union policies and legal requirements Perform Skip-Tracing Handle E.OSCAR Disputes Utilize appropriate collections methods. Recommend due date extensions, loan consolidation, financial counseling, voluntary and involuntary repossession. Ensure repossessions are initiated, evaluated, sold and collected on in accordance with established policies, procedures, applicable laws and regulations Maintain accurate records of collection activity Process death/disability/gap claims and consumer credit disputes Work to preserve positive member relationships through effective communication and resolution strategies Collaborate with external collection agencies and attorneys to optimize recovery efforts Maintain knowledge of governing consumer lending and collections regulations, compliance and information security issues Ensure strict adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies in the collections process Partake in compliance and other trainings as directed by management Other duties and responsibilities as assigned, pertaining to the position
Qualification/Skills:
Excellent phone communication and customer service skills Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and be capable of working in a tactful, diplomatic and effective manner with members, all levels of credit union personnel, professionals serving the credit union and external auditors and regulators. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Knowledge and adherence to proper telephone and email etiquette. Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC) Education/Experience High School diploma or equivalent 2-years of related collections experience NMLS license preferred It is the policy of County Excellence Federal Credit Union not to discriminate against any applicant for employment, or any employee because of age, color, sex, disability, national origin, race, religion, or veteran status.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
