POSITION SUMMARY
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Bursar to lead its tuition billing/collections function. ICE is one of America's leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. We are passionate about helping students of all ages and backgrounds pursue their culinary dreams. We're looking for a Bursar who is passionate about the world of food and is excited to contribute to our growing organization. Success in this role requires experience in billing and collections and strong communications skills. If you are an organized, diligent, and detail-oriented person, we want to hear from you. The Bursar is a key member of our Accounting team and reports directly to our Director of Accounting Operations. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES
Perform all activities associated with the student receivable system, including but not limited to billing, collections, write-offs, registration, and account reconciliations. Accurately calculate charges and refunds as necessary Prepare tuition billing for new and reentry students Manage and process scheduling of student stipends and refunds for credit balances Monitor receivables and contact overdue accounts Oversee delinquent account collections to ensure all processes are in accordance with laws and regulations Ensure data accurately reflects the amount paid by students as well as student enrollment status Prepare invoices as needed for outside agencies for student payments Assist and coordinates with other departments (Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid) relating to application fees, refunds, registrations, etc. Provide excellent customer service and trouble-shooting for student issues Ability to effectively communicate instruction in person, via telephone and email Other duties as required by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree preferred Two to four years of Bursar or Financial Aid services experience within an educational institution. Proficiency in detailed accounting transactions, processing and systems. Through knowledge of federal student loan programs and strong understanding of account practices. Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Word and Excel Knowledge of CampusVue is a plus Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required Great customer service skills Outstanding written and oral communication skills High energy level, ability to work well under pressure Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
