Job Description
Description We are looking for a Loan Service Specialist to support loan administration activities for a contract position based in Lacey, Washington. This role focuses on maintaining accurate servicing records, coordinating payment-related transactions, and assisting with collection and recovery workflows. The ideal candidate communicates effectively with members and internal teams while helping ensure loan servicing processes are completed with precision and timeliness.
Responsibilities:
Administer a range of loan servicing transactions, including account modifications, restructuring updates, payment reversals, and routine payment posting within the servicing system.
Respond to loan servicing questions from members and internal staff by providing timely, clear guidance and effective issue resolution.
Coordinate the placement of charged-off accounts with external collection partners and prepare supporting records for recovery and legal follow-up activities.
Track and apply collection-related costs and recoveries, including repossession fees, legal expenses, and other account adjustments, to maintain accurate financial records.
Process recovery transactions and update applicable account reporting records, including ChexSystems status changes when obligations are resolved.
Reconcile general ledger loan servicing activity, investigate variances, and address discrepancies to support strong operational controls.
Handle payoff-related payments received from insurers, auto dealers, and title companies, and ensure lien or title releases are completed correctly after payoff.
Manage specialized payment activity such as refunds from canceled ancillary products, trustee disbursements, and Debt Management Plan payments, while supporting additional loan servicing duties as needed. Requirements
Experience in loan administration, loan servicing, or a closely related financial operations role.
Working knowledge of payment posting, payoff processing, and lien release procedures.
Ability to manage account adjustments, recovery activity, and charge-off related documentation with accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for supporting members, collection partners, and internal teams.
Familiarity with general ledger reporting, account reconciliation, and resolving transaction discrepancies.
Proficiency in handling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Background in loan underwriting or related lending operations is preferred.
Exposure to specialized loan programs or compliance-oriented financial processes is a plus.
