This role will serve as a key compliance resource for both internal teams and customers, helping ensure all customs brokerage activities are accurate, compliant, and aligned with CBP requirements. The ideal candidate has strong customs brokerage experience, excellent knowledge of HTS and import compliance, and the ability to provide practical, compliant supply chain solutions to customers. Key Responsibilities 1. Customs Entry Compliance & Accuracy Review and monitor customs entries prepared by brokerage team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with CBP requirements. Verify key entry data, including HTS codes, country of origin, declared value, duty rates, importer information, PGA requirements, and supporting documents. Identify entry errors, compliance risks, and process gaps, and provide corrective guidance to team members. Establish internal review procedures and quality control standards to improve entry accuracy and reduce compliance risks. Support post-entry corrections, protests, PSC, CF28, CF29, and other CBP-related follow-up matters when needed. 2. U.S. Customs Regulation, HTS & Duty Updates Monitor updates related to U.S. customs regulations, CBP rulings, HTS classification, duty rates, Section 301 tariffs, ADD/CVD, PGA requirements, and other trade compliance matters. Provide timely and accurate CBP updates to internal teams and customers. Interpret regulatory changes and explain their operational and financial impact to sales, operations, and customers. Maintain internal compliance reference materials, SOPs, tariff guidance, and classification notes. Train brokerage, operations, and sales teams on customs compliance topics and regulatory updates. 3. Customer Customs Compliance Support Respond to customer inquiries related to customs clearance, HTS classification, duty rates, import requirements, documentation, valuation, country of origin, and CBP regulations. Provide practical guidance to customers on import compliance requirements and required documentation. Communicate clearly with customers regarding customs risks, potential delays, duty exposure, and compliance obligations. Assist customers in preparing proper import documentation to reduce clearance delays and compliance issues. Work closely with sales and operations teams to support customer retention and service quality. 4. Supply Chain & Import Strategy Optimization Provide customers with optimized supply chain and import solutions based on legal customs compliance, proper HTS classification, and accurate duty assessment. Advise customers on compliant ways to improve import efficiency, reduce unnecessary duty exposure, and avoid customs risks. Review customer product flows, origins, vendors, and documentation to identify potential opportunities for duty savings or process improvement. Support customers with import planning, tariff impact analysis, and customs-related supply chain decisions. Ensure all recommendations are compliant with CBP rules and do not involve misclassification, undervaluation, false origin claims, or other non-compliant practices. 5. Team Supervision & Training Supervise and guide customs brokerage team members on entry preparation, compliance review, and issue resolution. Provide training on HTS classification, customs valuation, country of origin, PGA requirements, ADD/CVD, Section 301, and CBP procedures. Develop team members' technical knowledge and improve their ability to identify compliance risks. Serve as the internal escalation point for complex customs clearance or compliance matters. Work with management to build standardized workflows, checklists, and compliance controls. 6. Compliance Process Improvement Develop, maintain, and improve internal customs compliance SOPs. Create checklists and review mechanisms for high-risk entries, new customers, new products, and special tariff cases. Track recurring entry errors and recommend process improvements. Support internal audits and customer compliance reviews. Help the company reduce operational risk, penalty exposure, entry rework, and customer disputes. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of experience in U.S. customs brokerage, import compliance, freight forwarding, or trade compliance. Strong knowledge of U.S. customs entry process, HTS classification, duty rates, CBP regulations, and import documentation. Experience reviewing customs entries and identifying compliance issues. Familiarity with commercial invoices, packing lists, arrival notices, ISF, entry summaries, and import-related documents. Ability to explain customs regulations clearly to internal teams and customers. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and risk awareness. Good communication skills in English. Mandarin Chinese is a plus. Ability to work with sales, operations, customers, carriers, warehouses, and government agencies. Preferred Licensed Customs Broker preferred. Experience handling Section 301, ADD/CVD, PGA, FDA, USDA, FCC, EPA, DOT, or other regulated imports. Experience responding to CBP inquiries, CF28, CF29, PSC, protests, or post-entry matters. Experience building SOPs, training materials, or internal compliance programs. Familiarity with ABI/customs brokerage systems.
