Air Specialist Charlotte, NC Company Overview A full-service international freight forwarder and customs broker based in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Air Specialist to join its operations team. The business handles air and ocean freight, customs clearance, warehousing, distribution, and drayage, operating as an
NVOCC, IATA
member, CTPAT-certified customs broker, and bonded warehouse and CFS facility. The Role An operational position managing air freight shipments from booking through to final delivery. The role sits within a close-knit team and carries direct accountability for day-to-day air operations across both import and export. Responsibilities Manage air import and export shipments end-to-end, from booking and documentation through to customs clearance and final delivery. Coordinate with airlines, handling agents, and overseas partners to ensure timely movement of freight. Prepare and verify all air freight documentation including AWBs, commercial invoices, packing lists, and dangerous goods declarations where applicable. File AMS and ISF entries and liaise with the in-house customs brokerage team on clearance requirements. Handle customer correspondence throughout the shipment lifecycle, providing proactive updates and resolving exceptions. Process freight charges, drayage costs, and customer invoices accurately and on time. Coordinate drayage and last-mile delivery with dedicated trucking partners. Requirements Minimum 2 years of air freight operations experience within a U.S. freight forwarder or IATA-certified agent. Working knowledge of air import and export documentation, AMS filing, and customs entry requirements. Familiarity with dangerous goods regulations advantageous. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple live shipments simultaneously. Clear and professional communication with customers, carriers, and overseas agents.
