Job Description
COMPANY OVERVIEW
This company is an asset-based third-party logistics (3PL) provider of freight and transportation logistics, outsourcing solutions, and information services. We have an extensive network of motor carrier services in North America with employees nationwide. One of the largest Japanese trading and investment companies and is listed among the Fortune 500 companies. Our customers have access to our trucks as well as a network of 66,000 transportation providers worldwide that include contract motor carriers, railroads, air freight carriers and ocean carriers.ROLE PURPOSE
The Customs Brokerage Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate filing of entries with U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the import and export operations for our customers. The Customs Brokerage Manager will also oversee and participate in the daily operations of the department.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee end-to-end import and export customs operations, collaborating with the forwarding department. Ensuring adherence to all customs regulations, including tariff classifications, import/export restrictions, and documentation requirements as well as reviewing and approving customs entries for accuracy of date, duty calculations in addition to compliance and regulations. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of customer needs, promptly respond to requirements and issues, and resolve matters related to ISF (Importer Security Filing) and entries. Liaise with US Customs, respond to inquiries, and resolve issues raised by customs officers and customers. Stay current with, customs requirements, international trade regulations and trade agreements to ensure full compliance. Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, addressing logistics needs and ensuring satisfaction. Manage department budget, allocate resources, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve operational efficiency. Implement and maintain supply chain security measures, including government and CTPAT requirements. Maintain and update operational SOPs and KPIs to optimize processes. Assist Business Development Department (Sales) for new and existing customer relationships, promoting company services. Provide operational and regulatory training to department staff and encourage team progression.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred or 5 plus years of customs brokerage experience in lieu of education. Minimum 5-7 years of management experience in customs operations with extensive knowledge of various customs clearance services. Active Customs Broker License required; Candidate who has passed the exam and applied for the license will be considered.REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Proficiency in CargoWise software preferred. (Customs Entry System). Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. Demonstrated ability to manage a profit center and report on revenue generation, profit, and loss. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities. Physical Demands and Work Environment Statement Work is performed in a standard office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The ability to read, complete simple math calculations, and withstand moderate amounts of stress are important in achieving job objectives. The employee should be able to speak, read and comprehend fluent English.Travel:
