Head of Finance and Accounting

This is a focused, design-driven company where details matter. We are looking for an Accounting & Finance Manager to take full ownership of our financial operations. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who wants responsibility, clarity, and the chance to build systems that work. While you will communicate with outside contractors daily, this is not a team management role. You will be the person who owns the numbers. The Role You will lead all day-to-day accounting and finance functions, reporting, close, payroll, payables, and financial analysis. You will also improve how we work: cleaner processes, better systems, and stronger control over the business. You will work directly with leadership and help us understand what is really happening in the company. What You'll Do Financial Reporting & Close Own the monthly close process from start to finish Prepare accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Deliver clear monthly reporting and analysis to leadership Maintain forecasts and support annual budgeting Accounting Operations Manage A/R and A/P Process bi-weekly payroll Maintain general ledger and accounting records Build and maintain simple, reliable SOPs Analysis & Insight Analyze margins, costs, and trends Identify risks early and propose solutions Help leadership make better decisions with real numbers, especially at year's end Process & Systems Improve workflows, reporting, and data structure Implement tools, dashboards, and integrations where needed Build scalable processes as we grow Compliance & Controls Maintain internal controls and financial discipline Manage sales tax filings and coordinate with outside accountants Support audits and regulatory requirements Sales Commissions Review and process commission calculations Help implement more automated and reliable systems Cross-Functional Work Partner with sales, operations, and leadership Participate in regular business reviews Be the financial voice in the room Who You Are 10+ years in accounting or finance Strong understanding of GAAP and full financial statements Comfortable owning the entire month-end close Experienced with QuickBooks (or similar systems) Organized, detail-focused, and consistent Able to explain financial results in simple, clear language Interested in improving systems—not just maintaining them Bonus if you have experience in: Product-based, manufacturing, or design-driven companies System implementation or process building Why This Role Matters We are growing.
