Full Job Description Overview:
The incumbent is responsible for directing GGW accounting and finance including, budget and general ledger related data including financial statements, department technology, Controller and all other accounting and purchasing staff. Preparation of all systems, data and staff related to production of financial statements in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Specific activities include monitoring cash flow, all G/L activities and related compliance issues. 1. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls. 2. Responsible for oversight and development of accounting and finance policies and procedures. 3. Direct and manage budget and forecast processes for GGW and related entities. 4. Manage year end audit supervising staff in preparation of documents and work prepared by client as requested by auditors resulting in clean audits. 5. Manage cash flow by routinely reviewing the status of the accounts receivable aging and ensuring proper collection of accounts through the staff, reviewing daily bank balances 6. Develop and coordinate reporting tools for Senior Leadership Team and/or departments to properly manage their cost centers. 7. Ensure that financial systems are properly configured to support accurate reporting and flow of data of retail sales, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting and specific compliance requirements for Federal and/or State grants and other restricted funding. 8. Oversee the accounting ensuring a clean, efficient and timely month end close resulting in a timely, clean audit. 9. Develop and implement appropriate processes and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, i.e., Federal and State grants, tax regulations, etc. 10. Keep up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. As assigned by the CFO. 2. Manages the Accounting, finance and purchasing team, including development of soft and technical skills, and team building with all kinds and classes of people equitably; deals effectively with all races, nationalities, cultures, disabilities, ages and sexes; hires variety and diversity without regard to class; supports equal and fair treatment and opportunity for all.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has supervisory responsibility for the Controller (Accounting Operations), Senior Analyst (Budgeting, Reporting & Compliance), Purchasing Manager. Reporting to the Controller are 6 positions.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 2. Experience with single audits, Omnicircular cost principles and Form 990. 3. Ten plus years in accounting and/or corporate finance experience of which three to five years in a supervisory role with a nonprofit entity. 4. Strong written and oral skills required. Power point, Word experience. 5. Excellent experience and understanding of accounting, budgeting, payables and purchasing software. 6. Diplomacy, coaching and counseling, and conflict resolution skills. 7. High level of organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) valid and in "active status" either in the District of Columba or Maryland or Virginia. 2. Knowledge of and specific competence with D365, PN3, Prophix, or comparable systems
