AVP of Accounting

AVP of Accounting Permanent Alpharetta GA 6 Degrees Group Our client is a multi-entity company looking for an AVP of Accounting for a small, family owned client who can operate at both ends of the accounting spectrum, personally executing daily and month-end close functions while driving financial strategy, process improvement, and team development. This is a high-ownership role with direct visibility to executive leadership and real influence over how the accounting function scales. It's the right move for a seasoned accounting leader who still loves being in the details and isn't looking to manage from a distance.

Responsibilities:

Lead and personally execute month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, bank reconciliations across multiple high-volume accounts, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Analyze monthly financial results with a strategic lens, delivering variance analysis, cost-center performance insights, and margin health assessments to guide executive decision-making Hire, coach, and develop accounting staff while overseeing onboarding, career development, and service standard achievement Drive process improvement and automation initiatives, assist with annual budget preparation and reporting, and coordinate with external auditors and tax accountants on financial reviews and tax returns

Qualifications:

10+ years of general accounting experience balancing hands-on execution with strategic oversight; 4+ years in a management or player-coach capacity Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred Experience with multi-entity general ledger, annual audits, budgeting, and working with external accounting firms Advanced Excel skills required; Sage Intacct experience a plus
