Job DescriptionJob Description Director of Accounting Our client, a prominent player in the real estate industry, is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Director of Accounting to join their team in Boston. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee critical accounting functions for a diverse property portfolio, driving financial excellence and operational efficiency. Compensation:
$140,000 - $150,000 •Potential offers vary based on experience level, qualifications Applicants must be local and willing to commute to Boston 5 days a week, as this role will fully onsite. Lead the preparation and review of comprehensive financial statements for various stakeholders, including clients, lenders, and joint venture partners. Ensure all accounting and reporting activities align with contractual agreements such as management, joint venture, development, and mortgage documents. Interpret lease terms and support complex transaction analysis related to acquisitions, dispositions, debt, and lease structures. Collaborate with property and asset management teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations, ensuring timely delivery of reports. Manage onboarding and offboarding of assets, maintaining seamless transitions and accurate system handling. Verify lease data accuracy and system integrity across platforms before go-live. Maintain proficiency with accounting systems like Yardi and MRI, supporting process automation initiatives. Mentor and develop a high-performing team of Accountants and Senior Accountants, fostering a culture of excellence. Oversee staff training and ensure adherence to company policies, deadlines, and quality standards. Serve as primary contact for client tax and audit engagements. Drive continuous process improvements through automation and cross-department collaboration.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred but not mandatory. At least 7+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience. Proven expertise in preparing and analyzing real estate financial statements. Strong understanding of CAM, lease accounting, and related real estate tax issues. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, hands-on experience with Yardi is required. Must be reliable, organized, proactive, and adaptable.
