Job Summary This Consulting Director individual contributor position on the Statutory Reporting team is responsible for a high level of technical reporting contribution and oversight related to the timely and accurate completion of all quarterly and annual Statutory financial statements and related filings, ensuring compliance with NAIC and other regulatory requirements. The team also has oversight of various intercompany accounting processes and is responsible for the development, analysis and distribution of key internal financial reports. This role provides opportunities to collaborate with a variety of teams across the organization and utilize new technologies, as we strive to continually enhance and improve processes. This role provides significant opportunities to enhance and develop insurance accounting and reporting skills and has high visibility to senior management. The Statutory Reporting team is part of Corporate Financial Services, CNA's corporate controller organization. The group leads CNA's financial close process, driving efficient accounting and related analysis, along with meaningful internal and external reporting. The group's responsibilities encompass property & casualty and life & group insurance, reinsurance and corporate accounting as well as technical advisory, financial control, services operations and SEC/GAAP and Statutory reporting.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Reviews quarterly and annual Statutory financial statements, and other financial reports and regulatory filings for accuracy. Oversees the monthly intercompany accounting processes. Understands the Company's products, services, and the required regulatory reporting requirements and disclosures. Investigates financial results; understands and communicates the impact to management. Directs process improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting. Participates in technical accounting research and in determining the proper reporting treatment of complex or unusual transactions. Liaisons with internal and external auditors and regulators, and provides necessary support. May perform additional duties as assigned. Reporting Relationship Typically AVP or above Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Highest level understanding and working knowledge of current accounting/finance principles, practices and procedures and industry issues (U.S. GAAP and Statutory Accounting) as they relate to the organization. Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with peers, subordinates, and other members of management. Ability to achieve results by taking a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects. Excellent organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface with departmental staff, internal and external management, customers and other business units. Ability to exercise professional judgment and assume responsibility for decisions which have an impact on people and quality of service. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems such as Workday Reporting, Copilot and Tableau. Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA preferred. Typically, a minimum of ten years related work experience. Audit experience in a large public accounting firm and/or public company reporting experience is preferred. #LI-MR1 #LI-Hybrid In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $97,000 to $189,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
