Job Description
Description We are looking for a highly skilled and forward-thinking Director of Accounting to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. This role is pivotal in shaping the financial infrastructure of our organization, driving system upgrades, and ensuring the accounting processes align with long-term business goals. As a leader in the finance team, you will oversee critical accounting functions, facilitate system transitions, and contribute to the company's growth strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and migration to a cloud-based accounting platform, including requirements definition, system design, data migration, and post-launch stabilization.
- Develop and establish a scalable, multi-entity Chart of Accounts that supports diverse reporting needs across business divisions.
- Prepare and oversee consolidated financial statements while managing complex accounting areas such as intercompany eliminations and industry-specific adjustments.
- Design and implement automated workflows to streamline processes like accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close, reducing cycle times.
- Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, ensuring smooth execution of audits and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate and enhance internal control frameworks to support operational efficiency and audit readiness.
- Build and lead the transactional accounting teams, including Accounts Payable, Cash Management, and General Ledger, while fostering team development and succession planning.
- Collaborate with business leaders to align financial reporting systems with organizational goals and future expansion plans.
- Support the transition from manual consolidation processes to automated system-driven solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance organization to support sustainable growth. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA certification or a Master's degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Extensive experience in financial reporting, including preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Proven track record of leading software implementation projects, particularly in accounting systems.
- Strong expertise in designing and managing multi-dimensional Chart of Accounts.
- Solid knowledge of internal controls and ability to engineer efficient, audit-ready processes.
- Experience in audit management and working closely with external auditors.
- Proficiency in month-end close procedures and other transactional accounting operations.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and mentor teams for long-term success.
